Jal Shapriya-Patel is an East African Indian. Growing up in a small coastal city, she is cosmopolitan and internationally minded owing to a world-class international education and multicultural upbringing. Being a 'third culture kid' makes her appreciative and tolerant of different people and ethnicities.Interestingly, she did not speak a word of English when she joined school at the age of 5, but discovered her love for literature soon after.Jal has majored in Design, Related Arts and Literature, and minored in Indian Religion Studies from KIAD and University of Chichester in the United Kingdom. She has worked in the advertising field for twenty years, as a designer and copy writer, and later as an editor and publisher of two magazines.
